Every Business Has One

Celebrate

Every business has one. Your business has one, my business has one and  even Disney has one.

That one question they hear over and over in their business that really isn’t the question at all.

For Disney, the question is “What time is the 3:00 parade?”  How do you answer this?   Hint, the answer is not 3:00.

The proper answer lies in understanding the guest.

For our company, the question is, “How much does it cost to mail to all Porter Co?”

This question is rarely what they actually want to know.  The underlying question is how do I get started, how much will it cost to mail to some people in my area?

What is your company’s 3:00 parade question?  How have you trained your staff to handle it?

Have a wonder-filled day,

  1. So glad you started outside your comfort zone. It was the same for me. Took nearly 2 years before it became a regular habit.

    • Did not realize you felt out of your comfort zone. Glad you forged ahead.

  2. …forgot to say it took “me” 2 years, not you. 🙂

  3. What is your best product for weight loss?

It takes about 5 minutes to properly answer that question. But the customer is looking for the 5 second answer.

There’s another 5 second answer but they usually don’t want to hear it.

    Eat less, exercise more.

    • Ha, love that. I could totally see myself asking that question. So we both know the trick is not making me feel stupid for asking it. That is where the training comes in.
